Selection Process for the Union Public Service Commission Civil Service Recruitment 2024
1. Written Test- This test consists of two stages. First stage is all about the preliminary examination having multiple choice questions. This examination has two papers of two hours each that are general studies and CSAT. These are objective type questions. The first stage paper will be conducted on the same day with ⅓ of the negative marking.
General studies paper will have a total of 100 questions carrying 200 total marks and the CSAT will have 80 questions carrying 200 total marks.
2. The second stage is the main examination consisting of 9 papers with 3 hours each. The main examination was descriptive and hence required good preparation to qualify. Main examination is subjective in nature so candidates are asked to write answers in detail. Marks will be based on the paper pattern such as Paper A and Paper B will carry 300
marks total and for qualifying these papers, candidates are required to have at least 75 marks. Paper 1 to Paper 7 will have weightage of 250 marks in total and candidates will be selected based on the final merit list.
3. Personal Interview- This is the last stage for all the candidates who have been appearing in the examination process. Candidates who have cleared the main examination will be only notified for the interview round. The interview will take place within 3-4 months of Main Examination. Interview will also carry 275 marks and will be taken by a panel of experts to evaluate your decision making skills, interpersonal skills, analytical skills and moral integrity.
